Subscriber Survey
A majority of The Information’s readers who responded to our latest subscriber survey believe attackers, not defenders, currently hold the advantage in cybersecurity.
That comes as increasingly capable AI models and agents have introduced a double-edged sword in terms of cybersecurity issues. Developers can use the models for protection—for instance, to identify and patch vulnerabilities—but attackers can also use the technology to hack faster and at a larger scale. As things stand, 60% of 173 respondents said they think attackers are better positioned than defenders at this moment, while just 19% gave the edge to defenders, and the remaining 22% saw them as evenly matched.
