AWS’ New Cybersecurity Could Help Bank Push
Amazon Web Services is developing a new security service that protects data and applications running either on its public cloud or in customers’ own data centers, according to three people with knowledge of the service. It is aimed at patching a gap in security for companies, like banks, that move data back and forth between AWS and their own servers.
The security product shows how cloud providers are responding to the growing incidence of security breaches among major companies. AWS historically has required customers to be responsible for securing their data and applications. But in recent months employee errors (rather than hacks) have caused high-profile breaches involving Dow Jones and Verizon.
