AWS to Expand Security Offerings With Threat-Hunting Tool

Amazon’s cloud unit is working on two new services to help customers identify security threats, as the company steps up its use of artificial intelligence to protect customers’ applications and data, according to a person with direct knowledge of the matter and two people briefed on the cloud unit’s plans.

Both of the new services are designed to improve security for applications and data that customers run on Amazon Web Services, the internet giant’s cloud service, and are part of a broader plan to make businesses more comfortable shifting their computing chores into Amazon’s data centers. One of the new AWS services, called Morocco, will augment security-alerting systems by providing details about the size and scope of security threats, and to help reconstruct methods and targets of attacks, said the person with knowledge of the service. The second service, called Security Hub, collects security alerts in a central location where AWS customers can analyze them and get insights about specific attack patterns and techniques, said one of the people briefed on the service.
