Blockchain Lender Figure Technology Plans IPO
The company, which makes home loans on its blockchain, couldn’t move ahead with a public offering under the Biden administration.
Figure Technology Solutions, a startup that makes home loans on its blockchain and runs a crypto exchange, is planning to go public this fall, Figure co-founder Mike Cagney said. Figure is part of a wave of crypto companies taking advantage of a more crypto-friendly White House and surging investor interest in the industry.
The move is a big turnaround for Figure, which tried to go public under President Joe Biden’s administration but faced regulatory pushback against language it used in a regulatory filing. In an interview, Cagney, described the administration’s resistance: “‘We don’t want to see the word ‘blockchain’ in this document. You need to replace it with ‘database.’”
