Cisco In Talks to Buy Cybersecurity Startup Signal Sciences
Cisco Systems is in talks to buy cybersecurity startup Signal Sciences, the latest sign of Cisco’s efforts to expand in cybersecurity, according to several people familiar with the talks.
Signal Sciences develops software that protects applications running in private data centers and on cloud providers from attacks. The 5-year-old company’s customers include Adobe, WeWork, Etsy and Yelp. It has raised $61.7 million in four rounds, according to Crunchbase. (Alex Stamos, Facebook's former chief security officer, is an investor in Signal Sciences, according to PitchBook.) Cisco and Signal Sciences already have a relationship: last month, they announced that Signal Sciences software would be integrated into products from Cisco.
