Codex and Claude Code Can Work Together

Forget all the chatter about which AI coding tool is winning the race. The companies behind the leading AI coding tools are learning the benefits of peaceful co-existence. 

On Thursday, for instance, Cursor announced a new version of its app designed for coding with AI agents from different coding providers simultaneously, including Anthropic’s Claude Code and OpenAI’s Codex. OpenAI, meanwhile, last week released a software “plugin” that gives Claude Code customers the ability to use Codex within Claude Code. Codex can review code that Claude wrote or step in if Claude gets stuck. 

“We’ve seen Claude Code users bring in Codex for code review . . . so we thought: why not make that easier?” said Romain Huet, OpenAI’s head of developer experience, in an X post.
