Creator-Related Job Postings at Amazon, Google Spike
Companies have taken note of the millions of people who consider themselves social media creators. That’s showed up in job listings: Hiring for roles related to creators, such as engineers building features for them or managers overseeing influencer marketing, has exploded.
In the past three years, job listings with the word creator in the title or description have soared 4,645 times, to 92,900 positions, according to data firm Thinknum, which crawls more than 3 million job postings on companies’ websites every day.
The listings were spread out among thousands of businesses. The single biggest was Amazon. The owner of live-streaming service Twitch had 40 of the roles tracked in May, according to Thinknum. Amazon’s job postings included a vice president of creators at Twitch to oversee strategy, such as increasing streamers’ earnings and audiences, and an influencer marketing manager for Prime Video to work with online talent.
