Facebook Likely to Name Mosseri to Lead Instagram

Facebook most likely will name Adam Mosseri as the new leader of Instagram, following the announcement on Monday night that the photo-sharing service’s two founders are leaving the company, according to people familiar with the matter.

The departure of the two founders, Instagram CEO Kevin Systrom and CTO Mike Krieger, was the culmination of months of organizational changes within Facebook and growing resistance by the two men to Facebook’s increasing involvement in the photo-sharing service, these people said. An announcement about Mr. Mosseri, a Facebook veteran who is currently Instagram’s vice president of product, is likely to occur in the coming days, these people said. It is possible, though unlikely, that an alternative internal candidate for the job could emerge, they said.
