Amid a roomful of Silicon Valley elite this week, a Clinton made a rousing call to action by recounting a tragedy: the story of Amanda Zurawski, a young Texan woman left infertile after a botched abortion procedure.
“This is what we’re doing to women in America,” said Chelsea Clinton, daughter of Bill and Hillary, founder of Metrodora Ventures, a New York venture firm, and vice chair of her family’s Clinton Foundation. “When we pretend this is not what we’re doing to American women, it’s what gives coverage to those who want to keep doing this to American women.”
Clinton has played an active role supporting Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris, and her worry about women’s rights eroding further in a second Donald Trump presidency is a major motivator, she told attendees at The Information’s annual WTF Summit in Napa Valley. A country with as many abortion restrictions as the U.S. is “not an America I want to live in. It’s not the America that I want to raise my daughter or my sons in,” she said.
