Introducing The Information’s Tech Sentiment Tracker

When The Information began surveying readers about their outlook for 14 big tech companies in February 2023, the tech industry was in turmoil. Stocks were receding from their pandemic highs and layoffs were surging. Today, major stock indices are at all-time highs and tech companies big and small are racing to capitalize on advances in artificial intelligence.

These shifting moods are captured in our new Tech Sentiment Tracker. Each month, we ask a simple question: “Compared with three months ago, are you more optimistic or more pessimistic about these companies over the next three months?” We built this monthly tracker for our Pro subscribers who want to follow the raw data, but we will report some findings to all subscribers from time to time. We also share survey results with all those who respond to a survey.
