New KKR Venture Hunts for Deals to Clear Data Center Logjam
Newly launched AI infrastructure firm Helix Infrastructure Partners is jumping into the AI build-out race, joining a growing group of private equity investors trying to bring new data center space to hyperscalers while demand is still red hot.
Helix, backed by investing giant KKR, Nvidia and others and led by former Amazon Web Services chief Adam Selipsky, wants to move quickly by buying an existing data center company that develops custom facilities for large cloud customers, rather than building an entirely new business from scratch. The firm is sitting on more than $10 billion and has already drawn up a shortlist of U.S. data center firms it could acquire, Helix executives said.
