Okta Exec: We Can Be Bigger Than Salesforce
Last week, the software maker Okta closed its $6.5 billion acquisition of Auth0, one of its main competitors in the market for identity and access management software. The deal, the largest in Okta’s history, is a bid to expand faster at a moment when Microsoft is breathing down the company’s neck with its own product.
Okta has big growth ambitions. In fact, in a recent interview, its new chief marketing officer, Kendall Collins, predicted that Okta could eventually be bigger than Salesforce, the cloud software giant he and Okta’s two co-founders used to work at. It’s a bold claim coming from an executive at a company that today has a market capitalization of about $30 billion and annual revenue of $835 million compared to Salesforce’s market cap of $200 billion and annual revenue of more than $21 billion.
