The People Running Elon Musk’s xAI
Elon Musk has been paying closer attention to his artificial intelligence company, xAI, over the past few months, pushing staff to move as quickly as possible to catch up with rivals like OpenAI and Anthropic. The xAI CEO’s increased involvement has led to frequent reorganizations, demotions and firings on the teams building the company’s AI models and products.
At the same time, xAI has been integrating the social media site X, which it acquired in an all-stock transaction in March. Since X CEO Linda Yaccarino stepped down in July, Musk has not named a replacement for her, instead dividing her responsibilities between a trio of executives. The X and xAI teams still operate largely separately, but they are both reflected in The Information’s new xAI org chart, identifying more than 20 executives in key roles at the combined company.
