Predicting the Next Batch of Tech IPOs and More
If the early days of 2015 are any indication, we can expect a big year for tech. January saw some exciting product announcements (Microsoft HoloLens), funding news (Uber, again), IPOs (Box) and controversy (continued grumbling about Twitter management).
The Information subscribers are still upbeat about the tech sector and the economy, while expressing a tad more caution about the big private tech giants. The overall mood around those companies we track dipped a few points from December to a minus 2 average from plus one. (See private company chart below.)
Also, an interesting pattern is emerging in our monthly Subscriber Sentiment surveys. Similar companies keep showing up on our “Big Movers” every month with Uber, Square, and Salesforce again on the list and Lyft joining it. The takeaway: running a company whose service consumers use regularly, like Uber or Lyft, can lead to more intense PR, positive or negative.
