Covid-19 has resulted in a dramatic loss of life, plunged the U.S. into recession and created who knows what other disasters that we will be dealing with for years to come. 

It also interrupted a very prolonged private technology boom and IPO streak that, while wobbling before the pandemic, has now come to a crashing halt.
