The Great File Sharing Scramble

When it comes to file-sharing services used at work, Dropbox looks to be the winner by a hair. But in the race to win approval from IT departments, it faces stiff competition from Google Drive.

Spiceworks, an Austin, Texas, startup with a social network for IT professionals, asked its members what file-sharing services are used at their companies. The bulk of the responses came from small businesses with fewer than 50 employees.

Dropbox is the most widely used, the results show, although its lead over Google Drive is within the survey’s six percent margin of error. That’s striking given that Dropbox has been around for eight years, compared with three years for Google Drive.
