This summer, the hearts of college interns across tech collectively skipped a beat as layoffs and hiring freezes began to mount throughout the industry. It didn’t help when two big companies, Meta Platforms and Twitter, made headlines due to their decisions to delay permanent job offers to current interns because of the wobbly economy.
The kids are probably going to be alright, though. Amazon and Google are among the big-name employers that told The Information they don’t plan on scaling back their recruitment of summer interns, while Microsoft interns said they’re pleased with the prevalence of permanent job offers from the company. It turns out even Meta’s intern-hiring plans aren’t so bleak: The company’s top-performing interns have already received return offers, The Information has learned.
