The Other Big Tech Power Story: The Information’s Tech Briefing
Put aside for a moment all the drama around Robinhood and Reddit, and think of GameStop in the same vein as DoorDash, Tesla or Snowflake—as another hugely overvalued stock that defies fundamental analysis. With that in mind, it’s worth spending a little time on the news of this week that may have longer-lasting implications than stock bubbles: the whopper earnings coming out of Apple, Facebook and Microsoft.
No matter how intense the antitrust scrutiny and political pressure facing big tech companies, their businesses just keep getting stronger. Take Apple, whose iPhone-based power is now so great that even Facebook is thinking of suing it on antitrust grounds. There aren't too many companies that can post 20%-plus growth in revenue when the top line is more than $100 billion a quarter (another one that can is Amazon, which is reporting next week).
