The People With Power at Quibi
Quibi, the streaming video service launching next year, plans to air approximately 7,000 episodes of programming within its first year—an ambition for output likely surpassed only by Netflix. But unlike Netflix, which speeds production by letting a wide range of executives greenlight new shows, Quibi Chairman Jeffrey Katzenberg has to sign off on all programming deals.
That’s despite the fact that Katzenberg—who runs Quibi with CEO Meg Whitman—has lured some high-powered names from the industry to help boost Quibi’s programming slate. These include Doug Herzog, a former chief of Viacom’s music and entertainment division, as a senior content development executive guiding programming strategy, Jim Toth, a former top agent at CAA, to lead talent partnerships, and Diane Nelson, the former president of WarnerMedia-owned DC Entertainment. And until Wednesday, that group included former Hollywood Reporter President Janice Min to oversee Quibi’s news programming. In the org chart above, we identity the 22 executives atop the company.
