TikTok Insiders Bet No. 2, Adam Presser, Will Run New Venture
The final decision on CEO will require approval from the TikTok joint venture's new board, which is yet to be assembled.
President Donald Trump’s recent announcement that a joint venture will oversee TikTok’s U.S. business left unanswered the important question of who will run the new company. Inside TikTok, executives say there’s a very obvious candidate: Adam Presser, the longtime No. 2 to TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew, and one of the top Americans at the company.
In August, Presser became the new head of TikTok’s U.S. Data Security unit, which was established in 2022 to safeguard domestic user data. That unit is likely to be the core part of what will make up the new American TikTok joint venture, according to people who have been briefed on the matter by senior TikTok executives. Presser, who has been at TikTok for three and a half years, previously served as chief of TikTok’s operations and trust and safety teams.
