Getting a new streaming service like HBO Max off the ground is a technical feat under normal circumstances, but the coronavirus pandemic has added wrinkles no one could have anticipated.
Just a couple of weeks ago, when a small power outage in a Seattle neighborhood affected one of WarnerMedia’s data centers, the media company’s chief technology officer, Jeremy Legg, had to scramble to figure out how to get power generators there with everyone sheltering in place. “Normally, we would have a team of people there,” Legg said in a recent interview from his home in Atlanta.
