What We Learned From The Information’s List of the 50 Most Promising Startups

If you’ve wondered what startups could become the Google, Microsoft or Salesforce of the 2020s or ’30s, see our inaugural list of the 50 most promising tech startups that probably aren’t yet on your radar screen. We included previously unreported financial data about the vast majority of them, which range from consumer apps and media to fintech and enterprise software.

They include Cameo, which charges consumers to receive recorded messages from celebrities including Ice-T and Brett Favre but has grander aspirations; Bunch, a three-year-old app that lets mobile gamers video-chat with each other; and Tezign, a Chinese firm that connects businesses with designers who create ads and other branding material for them. And on the enterprise software side, there’s Alation, which sells software that automatically organizes corporate data for analysis by machine-learning algorithms. There’s also Ironclad, which does the boring but valuable work of helping companies create and manage business contracts.
