At a moment when Zoom’s security practices are receiving renewed attention, the fast-growing video-calling company is turning to a big tech business—Google—to help make those calls safer.

Zoom is in advanced talks with Google’s cloud division about using a Google security service that alerts users to the dangers of clicking on links associated with malicious websites, according to two people with direct knowledge of the matter. If the two companies reach an agreement, Zoom could use the Google service to flag links to such websites that scammers send to other users through Zoom’s chat function. That is one of several risks security researchers have warned about as Zoom has exploded in popularity during the Covid-19 pandemic.
