Cohere Boosts Revenue Pace to $70 Million on Overseas Growth
Cohere, one of the earliest venture-backed developers of artificial intelligence models, has faced plenty of headwinds in the last two years. The company has been under threat from better-funded competitors like OpenAI and Anthropic and faces competition from cheap, open-source alternatives like DeepSeek.
In spite of all that, the company is still growing at a decent clip, though its business remains tiny compared to those of its competitors. Annualized revenue hit $70 million at the start of this year, more than tripling since last March, we hear.
Meanwhile, Cohere executives have told some potential investors they are considering allowing for a sale of employee shares, according to two people who have spoken with the company. Such a sale could offer a window into what investors think the company is worth in an increasingly crowded enterprise AI software market.
