OpenAI is Revamping Sora AI Video

Between OpenAI’s long-awaited Strawberry launch and its monster ongoing fundraising, it might be easy to forget about Sora, a video-generating model it teased in February to global fanfare. 

A number of investors told me at the time that the impressive Sora demos cast a worrying shadow over the gaggle of competing AI video startups that had raised hundreds of millions in venture capital. Those concerns may have eased: six months later, OpenAI still hasn’t launched Sora.

That could soon change. OpenAI is training a new version of Sora that it hopes will quickly generate clips that are higher in quality and longer than the ones it demonstrated earlier in the year, according to a person who’s spoken to OpenAI executives about it.
