AWS’ Free Agent Targets Microsoft Customers
As Microsoft and Amazon Web Services have dueled over cloud customers in the past decade, one of Microsoft’s biggest advantages has been its base of corporate customers that run Windows software on their local servers and want to move it to the cloud.
AWS has complained about this dynamic for years, saying the Windows licenses effectively lock customers into Microsoft services because it costs customers extra to run Windows on other clouds.
But AWS may not need to complain anymore. On Wednesday, it touted several new artificial intelligence agent products, including an agent that makes it simple for Windows customers to get on AWS without the added costs they previously would have incurred.
