What OpenAI’s Sales Automation Software Can Do—and What It Can’t
A clip recently surfaced on Reddit showing OpenAI executives demonstrating a new ChatGPT feature in Japan. The video showed how ChatGPT’s “deep research” mode, part of a $200-a-month Pro subscription, could automatically sort through sales leads and determine which ones are worth contacting. It determines that by searching the web for data like a company’s revenue. ChatGPT would then email those companies’ representatives to set up a meeting.
The rise of AI in sales has caused fear and skepticism among some sales staff, we’ve reported. OpenAI’s new software joins the race among Microsoft and Salesforce and startups to automate administrative work for salespeople. But it isn’t necessarily bad news for sales staff as long as their job involves closing deals rather than managing data on customers.
