Why the Italian Embassy Wants to Work With Creators
I spent Tuesday evening at the Italian Embassy in Washington, where I moderated a discussion about the growth of the creator economy and how governments should be thinking about working with influencers.
The convergence of politics and creators has been building slowly over time. Case in point: 10 years ago, Michelle Obama invited Vine stars to the White House, which was an unusual choice of guest at the time. But Donald Trump's use of podcasters and other creators during his successful presidential bid last year marked a turning point. Now more policymakers and foreign governments are trying to figure out their own strategies when it comes to influencers.
