Pro Weekly: Omens of Past Corrections
A large majority of respondents to our July survey said they expect a stock market correction of 10% or more within the next 12 months, and more than half said shares of technology companies are in a bubble.
We also asked readers which year since 1980 they think 2024 feels closest to. Their answers also reflected anxiety about a looming correction. More than 40% of the 708 respondents picked a year between 1996 and 2000, the time of the dot-com bubble. Another 13% cited 2006 to 2008, just ahead of the financial crisis.
