Pro Weekly: Trump Bump Fades for Tesla, Coinbase
Our latest subscriber survey showed that readers continue to be plenty optimistic about the outlook for the technology sector overall. But when it comes to individual big tech companies, sentiment mostly soured in February, suggesting that developments like government spending cuts and sinking crypto prices are complicating that broadly rosy outlook.
Optimism fell for 12 out of the 14 tech companies we track in February, with the sharpest declines at companies that had the biggest upswings in the months following the November election of President Donald Trump. Reader optimism about Tesla deteriorated the most, with fewer than 16% saying they were more optimistic about the company’s prospects for the next three months, down from 38% in January. At the same time, 51% of respondents were more pessimistic about Tesla’s prospects, up from 30% last month. (See our Tech Sentiment Tracker for the breakdown on each company.)
