My colleagues Natasha and Kate this week published The Next GPs, identifying 19 people in industry and at venture capital firms such as Accel, Andreessen Horowitz and Lightspeed Venture Partners who are likely to become general partners in coming years.

As I studied the list, I was struck by the relative youth of its members. At least nine, roughly half the list, are 31 years old or younger. At just 28 years old, Everett Randle of Kleiner Perkins has invested in SpaceX and human resources software maker Rippling. Lux Capital’s Grace Isford, 27, led investments in Together AI, which sells access to tools for training and running open-source artificial intelligence models, and AI text-to-video company RunwayML. John Luttig, 28, worked on Founders Fund’s investments in Rippling and pushed the firm to buy OpenAI shares in early 2023 when the company was valued at $27 billion; it is now reportedly in discussions to raise fresh funding at a valuation of $100 billion.
