A New Milestone for AR Contacts; Snapchat’s Subscription Service

My time with Mojo Vision CEO Drew Perkins was limited, so I didn’t have time to ask him if he had seen this year’s The Batman, where the title character makes regular use of AR contact lenses to augment his nighttime detective work. As the first person to wear a functional prototype of Mojo’s in-development AR contacts—a major milestone for Mojo—Perkins would be the best person to weigh in on the plausibility of Bruce Wayne’s lenses.

No matter. What I did get to talk to Perkins about, when we and Mojo’s senior VP of product and marketing Steve Sinclair chatted earlier this week, was the significance of Mojo’s progress. The bottom line: Sinclair’s earlier prediction that Mojo’s lenses could be sold within the next decade now feels much more realistic given that the CEO has now worn a functioning lens himself.

“That really validated that all the pieces were working,” Perkins said. “Everything was working together, the eye tracking was working[...] and my eyes felt good.”
