Dreamscape’s CEO on VR for Education and Entertainment
In VR, there are only a handful of companies on the software side with the resources or nerve to try and tackle multiple kinds of content. Dreamscape Immersive is one of them, and a new partnership announced today could see its education arm become a more interesting side of the business than its location-based VR experiences.
Dreamscape may be best known for its locations in shopping centers across five cities, where groups of visitors can partake in 10-15 minute VR adventures. But through its new partnership with Zoe Immersive, which makes no-code VR content creation tools, Dreamscape aims to make it easier for educators to craft VR classes. Dreamscape CEO Walter Parkes, formerly of DreamWorks’ film division, told me in an interview that he sees more overlap between VR’s strengths for entertainment and education than one might assume. In short, educational programming can learn a thing or two from entertainment to keep students paying attention.
