Magic Leap Switches to Team AMD
There isn’t much we know about Magic Leap’s next AR headset, aside from its late-2021 release date. The few details Magic Leap has shared—for example, that its field of view will be double that of its predecessor—tend to beg a lot of questions about the product.
But yesterday we got one intriguing clue. The upcoming headset, the first since Magic Leap’s 2018 headset, will be powered by a chip made by AMD, says a person familiar with the situation. The two companies announced a partnership yesterday they said entails work on a semi-custom chip geared toward advancing AR for enterprise use. The announcement didn’t mention the upcoming headset however.
