OpenBCI Gets VC Funding; Teasing Out Snap AR Trends
Brooklyn-based startup OpenBCI, which is working on a VR headset accessory designed in partnership with Valve and the eye-tracking company Tobii, is raising its first round of venture capital. Coming eight years after its founding, the funding round of undisclosed size signals that OpenBCI wants to get ahead of increased momentum in the sector.
“There have been periods throughout my time as an entrepreneur where I've been very anti-VC or anti-raising capital,” said Conor Russomanno, OpenBCI’s co-founder and CEO, in an interview with Reality Check. “At this point, things are moving too quickly to sit on the sidelines and let other companies and entrepreneurs build things because they have the resources and we don't.”
