Snap Sets Partner Summit Date; Liv Raises $8.5 Million for Mixed Reality Streaming

Snap will hold its annual partner summit on April 28, the company revealed today. And this year’s event bears an unsubtle subtitle: “Back to Reality.” The event name suggests that Snap will devote more time to its AR tech than it did at last year’s summit, which featured the debut of Snap’s developer-only AR Spectacles.

As it has in the past, the virtual summit will kick off with a keynote featuring Snap’s co-founders, CEO Evan Spiegel and CTO Bobby Murphy. We may not get a glimpse of a new version of Snap’s AR Spectacles—the company isn’t promising new hardware announcements— but it would be odd not to see some signs of progress given Snap’s string of recent acquisitions.
