All Eyes on Nvidia’s Numbers
Summer is winding down—Labor Day is just a week away! But we’ve still got plenty of business news. Next week is particularly important: Nvidia will report earnings for its July fiscal quarter on Wednesday. In a note to clients yesterday, Wedbush analyst Dan Ives described the Nvidia report as “the most important tech earnings in years,” one example of how obsessed Wall Street is with it.
Ives’ description might be a little hyperbolic (what about Nvidia’s next quarter?), but we get it. Investors want to reassure themselves that demand remains robust for Nvidia’s chips, used by tech companies in training and running artificial intelligence models. Given commentary in recent weeks from those tech companies—such as Alphabet, Microsoft and Meta Platforms—there’s no sign that they’re pulling back on their AI investments.
