Musk’s European Cage Match

It looks like Elon Musk is preparing for a cage match with Thierry Breton, a European commissioner who has been on the X owner’s case over his lack of compliance with European regulations. Today, for instance, Musk re-tweeted the latest missive from Breton—as verbose a letter as any bureaucrat could produce—with an image from the movie “Tropic Thunder” where a character played by Tom Cruise urges someone to have carnal relations with their own face (in slightly more graphic terms).

The exchange comes ahead of tonight’s Musk interview with Donald Trump on X, which for a certain segment of the population will surely be the social media event of the decade. Breton says he is writing partly “in relation” to that interview and seems to be concerned about the risk of “harmful content” that might “generate detrimental effects on civic discourse and public security.”
