Ready helped turn around a social media company that was losing users and facing activist investor pressure, but Pinterest is facing renewed scrutiny as growth in its ad business slows. Under Ready, Pinterest has tried to market itself as more of a search platform than a typical social media site and sell more ads to small and medium-sized businesses. In early 2026, Ready said the company would lay off around 800 employees, or up to 15% of staff, and prioritize AI initiatives.
