Quick Facts

Charlotte, N.C.-based Albemarle is the largest lithium producer in the world.

The company's main asset is a 49% stake in Greenbushes, the world's most valuable single hard-rock lithium mine, located in southwest Australia.

Albemarle's prominence goes back almost entirely to its 2015 acquisition of Rockwood Holdings for $6.2 billion, giving it Greenbushes plus lithium brine holdings in Chile and Nevada.
